Welcome Back, Roadrunners!
Dear Goodman Families,
It is with great pleasure that we welcome everyone to the 2021-2022 school year!
All of us here at Goodman Middle School have been working hard to prepare for the return of all our Roadrunners. We are excited and are looking forward to this coming year! Our dedicated staff have been engaged in professional learning opportunities to keep their teaching skills honed to better meet the needs of all students. Our building looks fabulous due to the committed custodial team having been meticulously cleaning and disinfecting our building the entire summer.
This past year I (Mr. Robuck) have been training to summit Mt. Rainier in August. Each training climb, I come away with a new lesson on life and how we all learn and reach our goals differently. I recognize how each climber’s steps, pace, and gear are different but with a united goal of reaching the top. This resonates with me thinking on the journey through middle school. Our goal at Goodman is to support students where they are and partner with them to help achieve their goals. We know everyone has a different pace and set of skills and we will do whatever it takes to support them throughout this adventure and prepare them for the next journey of high school and beyond. This is what Goodman wants to celebrate, not just being at the top but the hard work getting to the top. We are so excited to walk alongside you on this journey.
Communication between home and school is essential to ensure success. We will provide information to families via text, email, phone calls and our school webpage, so please ensure your information is updated in the Parent Portal.
We also are looking forward to having sports start as soon as we are back in school. We will be offering Cross-Country, Girls’ Volleyball, and Boys’ Soccer this Fall. Our 6th grade students are welcome to join the Cross-Country Team! All sports are open to 7th & 8th grade students. When the schedules are available, you will be able access student athletic materials in the Parent Portal. Although we are planning on having sports, we still may have to make changes due to safety guidance from the Health Department.
This school year will be a new journey for all of us, but please know that we are committed to keeping our students, staff, and families healthy and safe. We will keep you informed of any changes prior to the first day of school.
We look forward to a great year with you and your child!
