Finishing the School Year Strong
As we enter the final stretch of the school year, I want to take a moment to reflect and encourage. The past several months have brought their share of challenges, yet I continue to be inspired by the resilience and determination of our students. Now is the time to give it our all—let’s support our children in staying focused, working hard, and finishing strong. Remind them of the goals they’ve set, the progress they’ve made, and the bright future that lies ahead.
I also want to extend my sincere gratitude to all of you. The partnership, support, and involvement of our families have made a meaningful difference this year. On behalf of the entire Goodman staff—thank you. And a BIG thank you for the thoughtful treats and kind gestures during Teacher Appreciation Week! Your generosity was deeply appreciated.
As the school year comes to a close, I want to share some personal news: both Assistant Principal Musgrove and I will be transitioning to new roles within the district this fall. It has truly been an honor to serve the Goodman community. We are so thankful for the trust, collaboration, and support you’ve shown us. Goodman is a special place, filled with dedicated staff, amazing students, and caring families. We are confident that the school will continue to thrive under the leadership of the incoming principal and assistant principal.
This month’s newsletter includes a few important reminders and updates, so please take a few minutes to read through the information. We’ll also send emails over the summer with back-to-school details and supply lists.
Wishing you and your family a safe, restful, and joy-filled summer. We look forward to hearing about all the wonderful things your students will continue to accomplish in the years ahead.

Respectfully,
Ty Robuck – Principal
Dawn Musgrove – Assistant Principal

Update Info

It's Time To Update Your Information!

Updating Your Contact Information: If you have not taken the time this year to log into your Parent Portal PowerSchool account to update your contact information, we encourage you to do that before the end of the school year. When you log in, look for the “Year Round Update” function. We have seen an increase in outdated cell phone numbers and email addresses listed for our families, which makes it difficult to make contact in an emergency or with important school news. It’s also a great time to add things like your student’s personal cell phone number or new emergency contacts, or to remove old contacts that you no longer want listed for your student. Please take a few minutes to complete the Year Round Update process!

Updating Your Address: If you know you will be moving before the start of the next school year, please let us know as soon as possible. You can email Mrs. Ruiz at ruiza@psd401.net or call her at 253.530.1605. Our office will be closed much of the summer, so please notify us before the end of June if you know you won’t be returning to Goodman. Thank you!

Clothing Drive
Our Interact Club, AVID and ASB are co-hosting one last service project for the 2024-2025 school year. We are collecting gently used clothing for Food Backpacks 4 Kids Summer Clothing Drive. Teen clothes are most needed, but we will take any new or gently used clothing! The drive runs through Friday, June 13th. Clothes can be dropped off at school or students can take donations to their WIN class. Help our clubs make this a successful event, supporting those in need!

If you would like to attend the clothing drive please connect with Annie Schuster, CISP Site coordinator. annie@cisofpeninsula.org

Health Room
Sports Physicals
Summer is a great time to get sports physicals done if students plan to participate in sports at Goodman next year.

Student Medication Pick Up
If your child has medication in the health room, please make sure to pick it up on the last day of school. Any medication left in the health room will be disposed of. We also have new medication forms for the upcoming school year. Please have your child's physician complete a form for any medication they will need to take at school.

Student Health Care Plan
If your child has a current health care plan, please keep a look out for the updated HCP forms for the upcoming school year. They will be sent via DocuSign. Please ensure these forms are completed and returned to the school nurse prior to their first day of school to prepare staff for any special accommodations to keep your child safe.

Immunizations
Do you have a child starting 7th grade next school year? Washington State law requires that all students entering the 7th grade receive one dose of Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis) on or after the age of 10. Please be sure to have their immunizations up to date before the start of the new school year. If your child does not have their immunizations up to date they will not be able to start. Parents and guardians who choose to exempt their child from one or more required vaccines must first complete and sign the Washington State Department of Health Certificate of Exemption (COE) form.

To help us keep your student’s health record up to date with new or changing health concerns, please be sure to fill out a Health Concerns Update Form.

News From The Library

This month we celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month in the GMS Library. Come discover the many resources, history, and culture on display. Check out a book to take home. And even try your hand at a traditional origami crane!

The Creators Association
Our writing, reading, and illustrating Roadrunners have continued to meet on Fridays during WIN to encourage each other and keep working on their own projects as well as a team project for the library–making one thousand cranes in honor of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.

The group is always open to new members who are interested in growing as artists. They're finishing the year strong and looking forward to more creative endeavors next year–including the first ever Peninsula School District Authors Day in October of 2025!

Books, Textbooks, and Chromebooks, Oh My!
Now is the time to return loaner chromebooks, chargers, textbooks, and library books to the GMS Library to avoid fines!
All items are due by June 10th. Overdue items will be marked as lost and converted to fines after  June 13th.
But remember, for any item turned in, that fine goes away. Unfortunately anything turned in after the last day of school may not be processed until next school year, so please get those books and Chromebooks in early!

Summer Reading!
There are great Summer reading programs all over Gig Harbor!

Learn more about Pierce County Library’s Summer Reading Program, “Summer of Stories” here: https://mypcls.org/learn-explore/books-movies-more/summer-reading/
We also have printed teen reading guides and prize forms available right here in the GMS library to get started! Earn books and prizes beginning June 1st–before school is even out!

And our local bookstore, Invitation Bookshop will be bringing back Summer Reading Bingo. Learn about this fun program here: https://invitationbookshop.com/events/465320250601

Print books too much to carry? No worries! SORA is also a great source for digital and audio books, and is available as an app through the student portal all year round. https://soraapp.com/library/psdwa

 Happy reading Roadrunners!

A Personal Note from your Roadrunner Librarian, Ms. Nielsen

I want to thank each and every one of you for being such great students, enthusiastic readers, and imaginative creators. I have so loved getting to be Goodman’s Librarian these past four school years. You all make me smile and laugh every day.

Next year, I will be taking a step back from full-time. Responsibilities to my family and my other life as an author require more flexibility than everyday school life can accommodate. This means you can expect to see me occasionally on campus–in the library or drama department. And of course I’ll be visiting more classrooms with my “author hat” on.
So many of you have become my most enthusiastic readers, and I’ve been so encouraged by your excitement. I hope to get more books to you soon and look forward to seeing you during the first annual PSD Young Authors conference this fall.
Happy Reading, Roadrunners! Thank you for everything!

Lock

Lockers

This is a great time of the year to start cleaning out lockers! Return materials that belong to the school, take things home that are not needed any longer, throw out trash and old lunches, and remove any stickers or other personal decorations. A few minutes of preparation now will save time and hassle on the last day of school!

Track & Field Update

Our 6th grade girls, 6th grade boys, and 8th grade boys teams all won districts! Our 7th grade boys finished 2nd, and 8th grade girls & 7th grade girls both finished 3rd. All of our district athletes contributed to Goodman taking FIRST overall for the district!

Along with the impressive team success, many athletes stepped up and achieved incredible personal success! In individual events, there were 40 total personal records by GMS athletes. In addition, nearly ALL of our relay teams recorded their fastest times of the season for their grade & genders.

Goodman finished first place in 26 events!
