Come Out and Play!
The GMS Roadrunners Athletic Program is a big part of our school. Time spent on the court, mat, track or field help these young people learn many skills they will use throughout their lives. Being a part of a team, win or lose, teaches students much about themselves and how to work together with others to achieve a common goal.
Our program is all about participation, teamwork and learning. As much as possible, we include all interested students.
Due to budget cuts this year, however, we have had to make
some changes to our sports program. We must limit the
number of teams for each sport to one. For the sports
of girls' volleyball, girls' and boys' soccer, girls' and
boys' basketball and wrestling, the one team will be
composed of both 7th and 8th grade students. If more
students are interested than needed to create the team, the
coaches will determine who will be on the team. This
is done based as much on effort and attitude as it is the
individual's skill in the sport. We also offer manager
positions. At this point, we are still discussing
options for students who want to participate in track.
Please check back to this website after January to learn
about that sport.
Buses are available to transport the teams to the
competitions at Kopachuck, Harbor Ridge and Key Peninsula
Middle Schools but students must make arrangements for
transportation from those schools to home. There will no
longer be a bus available to return students to Goodman
following the competitions.
The Pay to Play fee is now $25 and, as always, students
must possess an ASB card in order to participate in sports.
